Taxi driver arrested at Schiphol for attempted manslaughter
The Koninklijke Marechaussee - a policing force that works as a branch of the Dutch military and is responsible for airport security - arrested a taxi driver at Schiphol airport on suspicion of attempted manslaughter. On Monday the taxi driver tried to hit a Haarlemmermeer parking inspector with his car, NOS reports.
On Monday the parking inspector tried to fine the 31-year-old taxi driver from Zwannenburg for parking in the wrong spot at the airport. The inspector was distracted by someone asking directions and the taxi driver droe off. A short while later the inspector saw the taxi again and signalled the man to stop. Instead the driver hit the gas and drove straight at the inspector, who had to dive out of the way to avoid being hit.
Last week the Marechaussee held a large action against taxi drivers and recruiters that violate the airport's rules.
