EasyJet, union reach agreement over Dutch pilot contracts
Budget airline easyJet and union VNV reached an agreement on a collective bargaining agreement for easyJet pilots stationed in the Netherlands, NOS reports.
EasyJet pilots held several strikes at Schiphol airport this year. They demanded a lighter workload schedule, sick leave pay and a better pension regulation. EasyJet had to cancel several flights due to these strikes.
According to VNV, the negotiations ended well. "On all three key points the collective agreement brought significant improvements for the easyJet-flyer and we can now justifiably speak of a fair collective agreement", VNV chairman Steven Verhagen said to the broadcaster.
The collective bargaining agreement is implemented retroactively from July 1st, 2016 and will be in place until April 1st, 2019. The union members stil have to agree to it. 75 easyJet pilots are stationed in the Netherlands.
