Cop prosecuted for hitting pedestrian with car

A police officer in Eindhoven is being prosecuted for hitting a pedestrian with his car, causing serious injury, in August. The Rijksrecherche, the department that handles internal police investigations, looked into the incident and based on that investigation the Public Prosecutor decided to prosecute, NOS reports.

The incident happened on Sunday, August 7th. The officer was responding to a report, but could not move his car because a group of people was in the way. He drove in their direction at walking speed.

Most of the people got out of the way, but a 20-year-old man was not fast enough. The officer drove into him, knocking him to the ground. The officer then drove his car over the man's leg, causing injuries to his knee and ankle. His anterior cruciate ligament was torn.
