As in all serious accidents, the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding it. According to RTV Noord-Holland, the girl attended the Pieter Nieuwland College in Amsterdam. The school cancelled all lessons for Friday, but will be open for students who wish to grieve together. "Students and staff are shocked and deeply sad that such a young life had to end in such an abrupt manner", the school wrote in a statement. With six cyclists killed in traffic accidents so far, 2016 already surpassed the previous three years. Last year three cyclists died in traffic accidents in the city.
