Bijlmerbajes prison complex hits the market at €60 mil.

The the site of the former Bijlmerbajes prison complex was listed for sale on Tuesday. The Ministry of Home Affairs expects the 7.5 hectare site will fetch at least 60 million euros, ANP reports. The Penitentiary Amsterdam Over-Amstel, the Bijlmerbajes' official name, closed on July 1st. Until end next year it is being used as an asylum center. After that it will be built into a new neighborhood featuring about a thousand homes. Interested parties can submit their plans for this construction until December 8th,2016. The terrain will be transferred to the new owner on March 1st, 2018.
