More vocational students go abroad for internships, studies
The number of Dutch secondary vocational students, called MBO'ers in the Netherlands, going abroad to study or follow an internship is increasing. On a total of about 160 thousand students, 5.8 percent gain experience abroad, according to figures from EP Nuffic, Trouw reports.
With that it seems that the European goal of having six percent of MBO'ers gaining experience abroad by 2020 will be easily met.
The number of MBO students going abroad for experience is still well below that of students in higher education - 22 percent.
EP Nuffic focuses on the internationalization of education. This spring it is launching a campaign to point the advantages of international experience out to MBO students.
