Explosives found in Groningen home triggers area evacuation
The discovery of explosives in the attic of a home on Adriaan Pauwstraat in Groningen on Tuesday led to the evacuation of 24 homes in a 150 meter radius around the building, the police said on Twitter. An apartment building on Asingastraat was also evacuated as a precaution.
According to NU.nl, construction workers found the explosives during demolition of the house. The police were called in and an expert identified the explosives. It is unclear whether they are still armed. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team is on the way.
The homes were evacuated as a precaution. Evacuated residents are being sheltered nearby.
