One injured in asylum center fire

One person was injured in a fire at an asylum center in the Flevoland village of Luttelgeest, a spokesperson for the fire department confirmed to news wire ANP. The extent of his injuries is unclear. The fire broke out at around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday in a townhouse on the asylum center grounds. Firefighters and ambulances were quickly deployed as it was suspected that may be people in the burning building. "No one remained inside during the fire. So we found no injured people during and after the extinguishing", a fire department spokesperson said to the news wire. "But beforehand, when leaving the house, one resident was injured." The fire brigade managed to get the fire under control within 30 minutes. The neighboring townhouse also sustained damage. The cause of the fire is still unclear. The asylum center in Luttelgeest has been used as an asylum center since 1987. Before that it was a recreational park. It can house up to a thousand people.
