Schiphol cash tranporter busted for stealing €100,000 from airlines
A 25-year-old cash transporter from Waddinxveen is suspected of stealing at least 100 thousand euros from an airline. He was arrested on May 10th, the Koninklijke Marechaussee - a policing force that works as a branch of the Dutch military and is responsible for airport security - announced on Thursday.
The Marechaussee officers found a large amount in cash on the man upon his arrest. Officers searched his house and found "several tens of thousands of euros", according to the Marechaussee. The suspect's car and bank account, which had a balance of over 40 thousand euros, were seized.
According to AT5, the man embezzled money from an airline on a regular basis for the period of about a year. "For now we are taking into account that it involves at least 100 thousand euros", a spokesperson for the Marechaussee said to the broadcaster.
The suspect was arraigned and is still in custody.
