English the language of choice for most Dutch university programmes
This year the majority of all Netherlands university programs is taught fully in English, according to a survey by the Volkskrant. Currently 60 percent of the 1,632 courses in 13 universities in the country are taught in English.
With Master courses 70 percent are taught in English. More than half of Master's students followed a study course taught in English last year.
On in five students in undergraduate programs studied in English last year.
According to the newspaper, universities are opting to offer courses in English in the hope to better connect to the international academic world and foreign universities. It also attracts more foreign students.
