Eindhoven shooting victim previously survived an assassination attempt: report
A 34-year-old man who was critically injured in a shooting in Eindhoven on Tuesday night, survived another attempted assassination 15 months ago, acquaintances of the victim said to the Telegraaf.
The Eindhoven man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition on Tuesday night after being shot at close range while sitting in the passenger seat of a car near his house on St Peter Canisiuslaan.
According to the Telegraaf, he was also seriously injured in a shooting in Mierlo-Hout in June last year. A gunman opened fire on his car before fleeing on a scooter. He was never found.
One of the victim's acquaintances described him as an "Eindhoven career criminal" to the newspaper. "Through the years he worked himself up to Champions League criminal in Eindhoven and surroundings", the acquaintance said.
The perpetrator of Tuesday night's shooting is still on the loose. A burnt out car was found on Oude Doornakkersweg in Eindhoven after the shooting. The police are investigating whether the two are connected.
