Man caught smuggling cocaine in motorized wheelchair through Schiphol
A 39-year-old man from Heerlen was arrested at Schiphol airport on Sunday after 6 kilograms of cocaine was discovered hidden in his motorized wheelchair, the Koninklijke Marechaussee - a policing force that works as a branch of the Dutch military - said on Facebook.
Customs officers examined the motorized wheelchair during the baggage check all arriving passengers go through. The drugs were found hidden in the batteries under the seat. Marechaussee officers arrested the owner later.
The man is in custody on suspicion of drug trafficking, The Schiphol Drug Team and Marechaussee will investigate further.
