Rotterdam police find €96,000 in random search
A random search of two men during a preventative-search-action in Rotterdam Center on Thursday, August 4th, led the police to the discovery of 96 thousand euros in cash, the police said in a statement on Wednesday.
Around 10:15 p.m. officers stopped and searched two men, age 34 and 19 years, at Gedempte Zalmhaven. They found 8 thousand euros in cash, primarily in 500 euro notes, on the men. When checking the men's identities, the police discovered that both were involved in a fight with a firearm last week.
The officers decided that further investigation was called for. That investigation ed them to a house, in which another 88 thousand euros in cash, expensive shoes and watches and jewelry were found. A search of the suspects' car revealed a loaded firearm.
At the discovery of the weapon, both men were arrested. Both suspects are in custody.
