Bus driver fired after beating female passenger; Victim has concussion

A Connexxion bus driver was summarily dismissed after he assaulted a female passenger in Almere on Thursday, a spokesperson for the public transport company said to Omroep Flevoland. The assault happened after an argument got out of hand at Almere Poort. When the woman first got on the bus, the driver addressed her for bringing food and a drink with her. The quarrel flared up again when she got off the bus. It resulted in the woman emptying her cup over the driver, and he following her off the bus. A witness told the broadcaster that the driver kicked her even after she lay on the ground. According a family member of the woman, she sustained a concussion in the attack. She also pressed charges against the driver. A spokesperson for Connexion told the broadcaster that both driver and woman behaved badly. "But the driver threw punches, and that means dismissal."
