Former GroenLinks chairman Femke Halsema pulled the plug on her Twitter account. With her last tweet on Wednesday, she informed her over 318 thousand followers that she will no longer be tweeting. "I check it too often, it sucks and takes more energy than it gives: dismal and often downright evil."

"To all, increasing in number (anonymous) shouters, bullies and other creeps I say: 'Do well together'," the politician tweeted. "And for all the nice, peaceful tweeps: It was a pleasure, hopefully we'll come together again in real life."

Halsema started her Twitter account in September 2009. The account has now been deleted.
