Amsterdam escape room launches new game for corporate groups

Sherlocked, an escape game in Amsterdam that was named the city's best by both TripAdvisor and Uitkrant, is currently running a new "experience" in the Port of Amsterdam aimed specifically at larger groups, such as for corporate team outings. According to Micah J. Kessel, one of the 4 co-founders of Sherlocked, The Port Game can help businesses in the real world by teaching team members to improve their communication, he said in an interview with NL Times. The Port Game is located at the Port of Amsterdam and stretches from just behind the Westerpark to Zaandam. It can accommodate about 36 people per round and is ideal for corporate outings. According to Kessel, in The Port Game "multiple teams in a company can learn, through intelligent play, how to have more fun at work and communicate more openly". "So many organizations we've worked with in the past have problems with building trust in leadership, developing coordination within their groups and not talking over each other, but really with one another", Kessel said. "Overcoming these problems through play translates simply into happier, better communicating workers." To make The Port Game an even easier experience for businesses, Sherlocked can on request also arrange transport, lunch or dinner or even a DJ dance party for after the experience. While this particular game is more targeted at larger groups, it can also accommodate friends or families in groups of 3 to 6 people. Sherlocked also offers two other experiences in the Beurs van Berlage - one in which you and your gang of thieves have to break into a lock vault, and another in which your group has to solve an 80 year old mystery in Amsterdam's old stock market building. Kessel believes that these experiences can really better equip you for the 'real world' for two reasons: "One is very simple and that's improving communicating during problem solving." he said to NL Times. "And the second reason is that these experiences are enchanting reality. And enchantment is a different kind intelligence, which makes you smarter by learning to see the magic in your reality. This enchantment equips you to live in a world where you need your emotions as much as your logic to achieve personal success."
