Minister Ronald Plasterk of Home Affairs will be going in for surgery next week due to "recently revealed heart problems", his Ministry announced on Wednesday.

Minister Stef Blok of Housing will stand in for Plasterk, effective immediately. It is expected that he will cover the Home Affairs ministry all summer.

The Ministry did not say how serious Plasterk's condition is.
