Pedestrian killed in forklift accident at asylum reception center
A 54-year-old woman from Meppel was killed in an accident involving a forklift on the road in front of the COA building in Ter Apel on Wednesday, the police said in a statement.
The woman was walking when she was hit by forklift. The driver, a 28-year-old from Ter Apel, was questioned as a suspect.
The police initially reported that the accident happened on the grounds of the COA - the central agency for the reception of asylum seekers in the Netherlands. But later corrected the statement - the accident happened on the public road in front of one of the buildings used as a reception center.
