Bridge restoration expected to hinder Rotterdam road traffic

Road traffic on the A15 near Rotterdam and shipping traffic on the Oude Maas will be hindered by work on the Nieuwe Botlek bridge this weekend. Workers will be doing complex restorations to the bridge that will take the entire weekend, ANP reports. The work will start at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and is expected to continue until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. During this time the southern roadway towards Rotterdam will be completely closed for road traffic. The northbound roadway will also be closed except for Saturday between 6:00 a.m. and noon. Road traffic between Rotterdam and the Maasvlakte will be redirected to use the Botlek tunnel. Passage for inland ships will also largely be obstructed.
