Twenty cats killed in Utrecht fire
Between 15 and 20 cats were killed when a home in Zeist, Utrecht caught fire on Monday morning. The resident managed to escape the burning home, but could not save her pets, according to regional safety office Veiligheidsregio Utrecht.
The fire brigade managed to save one of the cats from the house. The animal was handed over to an animal ambulance in an unknown condition. The resident was taken to the hospital to be treated for breathing difficulties.
The home on Minckelerslaan burned down completely. Two neighboring houses also sustained damage. The cause of the fire is as yet unknown.
The resident of the home and her pets regularly participated in cat shows, according to the Telegraaf.
