Ten arrested in Dordrecht fatal shooting
A 38-year-old man was gunned down on the street in Dordrecht on Liberation Day. He died a short time later of his injuries. A total of ten suspects were arrested in Breda and Raamsdonkveer on Thursday night.
According to the police, the shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. on Merwedestraat. Because of the sunny weather, many people were outside and witnessed the shooting. Which means the police received several reports of the shooting at about the same time.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and found a wounded man on the street. Attempts to resuscitate him were to no avail and he died of his injuries.
The perpetrators fled in several cars after the shooting, but in their rush a front bumper and a license plate were left behind on Merwedestraat.
The police immediately launched a search and tracked down the first three suspects in Breda based on the license plate. The three were arrested on Groenendijk around 6:00 p.m.
The car without a front bumper led the police to the other suspects. They were found in Raamsonksveer on Thursday evening. Four men were arrested in a house. Two other men were arrested while sitting in a car in front of the house.
The final suspect turned him self in at a police station in Breda shortly after the other arrests were made.
The motive for the shooting is still unclear. The police are performing an extensive investigation, which includes a forensic investigation at the scene on Thursday night and extensively questioning the many eyewitnesses. Any witnesses who have not spoken to the police yet are asked to come forward.
