Toddler, 3, dies of injuries sustained in wrong-way driver crash
An accident caused by a wrong-way driver on the A79 last week, claimed its third victim. A 3-year-old boy who was seriously hurt in the accident, passed away of his injuries, 1Limburg reports.
The accident was caused by an 87-year-old man onto the off-ramp of the A79 at John F. Kennedylaan in Heerlen, instead of the on-ramp. He drove into oncoming traffic for 4.5 kilometers before crashing head-on into a car carrying a mother and her three children near Klimmen.
Both the wrong-way driver and the 39-year-old mother died at the scene of the accident. The two other children in the car, age 7 and 9, also sustained severe injuries. Their current condition is unknown.
