Some 5 million watch Remembrance Day ceremonies on TV

Over 5 million people watched broadcasts of Remembrance Day commemorations on RTL and NPO on Wednesday night, viewers foundation Stichting KijkOnderzoek announced on Thursday, ANP reports. Some 4.3 million people watched the National Remembrance Day memorial on Dam Square in Amsterdam - less than the 4.8 million viewers last year and significantly less than the 5.2 million people who watched the national commemoration in 2013. RTL4 drew 863 thousand viewers with their broadcast of the commemoration on Waalsdorpervlakte in The Hague on Wednesday night. Despite the lower viewer numbers, the commemoration on Dam Square was still the most watched program on Wednesday. The semi-final match between Real Madrid and Manchester City in the Champions League on SBS6 came in second place with nearly 1.5 million viewers.
