Two Dutch cities nominated for European Green Capital 2018 honors
Two Dutch cities made it to the final round of the competition for the title of European Green Capital 2018. Den Bosch or Nijmegen now only have to beat the Swedish Umea for a Dutch city to win the honor, the European Commission announced on Tuesday, ANP reports.
The winner will be announced on June 22nd in Ljubljana, the current European Green Capital. The three finalists can now submit their vision and plans for a Green future to the jury. "They can be real role models for a sustainable future, and show us how we can make cities more livable", EU Commissioner for Environment Karmenu Vella said to the news wire.
The European Green Capital prize has been awarded since 2010. The award is intended for cities that protect the environment in an outstanding manner and are groundbreaking in terms of environmental friendliness.
