Univ. Amsterdam workers accidentally paint over supposed Banksy
The facilities department of the University of Amsterdam accidentally painted over a wall painting believed to be by Banksy while removing graffiti. "Something went wrong, this was never our intention", the University said on Wednesday, according to the Telegraaf.
The painting showed a headscarf-wearing girl releasing a heart-shaped balloon, accompanied by the hashtag #withSyria. In 2014 Banksy used this hashtag to raise awareness for the war ravaging the country. The university is now investigating whether it can be recovered.
A second believed-to-be-Banksy painting at the university is still in tact. This painting shows a girl floating away while holding a bunch of balloons.

Meanwhile on Thursday, the University discovered a new painting in Banksy's style. It is unclear whether the famous street artist is really behind these paintings.
