Classic car enthusiasts rally against environmental zones
A group of classic car enthusiasts protested against environmental zones along the four big cities in the Netherlands on Sunday. Initiator Rotterdamse Klassiekers feels that the environmental zones will mean that classic cars such as 1941 Cadillac or a 1971 NSU Ro 80 will disappear from the streets
The enthusiasts are already banned from driving their classic cars in large parts of Rotterdam and Utrecht due to environmental zones. And the cities of Amsterdam and The Hague have plans to follow suit.
According to the foundation, environmental zones are a restriction on citizens' freedom of movement and they hardly improve air quality in the cities at all.
The protest march started in Rotterdam on Sunday morning and ran through Utrecht and Amsterdam, to end on the Malieveld in The Hague.
