Problems expected at Schiphol as French air traffic strike continues
Travelers arriving or departing from Schiphol on Monday can expect delays and cancellations caused by air traffic controllers striking in France, ANP reports.
On Sunday 36 flights were cancelled and 80 were delayed due to the strike, a spokesperson for Schiphol said to the news wire. The airport is expecting similar problems on Monday.
The French air traffic controllers started a 48 hour strike on Monday morning. They are protesting against a "very limited capacity in the French airspace". The strike is not only affecting flights to and from France, but also flights to other European cities which are unable to leave France. The strike is expected to end on Tuesday morning.
Eindhoven airport is also experiencing problems due to the strike. Four flights were cancelled and 16 flights were delayed on Sunday. So far 10 flights scheduled for Monday were cancelled.
Travelers are advised to check airports' and airlines' websites for the current state of affairs before leaving for the airport.
