Police dog breaks free, attacks teen girl playing football

A 17-year-old girl had to be treated in hospital for injuries on her arm and leg after a police dog broke free and attacked her in the Brabant town of Zegge on Monday. According to the police, the incident happened around 7:45 p.m. on Bosschenhoofdseweg. A police dog handler was walking the police dog in his spare time when the animal suddenly jerked on its leash and broke the snap hook. The dog disappeared into the bushes near a football field, where the teenager was looking for a ball that ended up in the bushes during a training session. The dog attacked the girl, biting her on the arm and leg. The dog handler managed to pull the dog off the girl and rescue her. The police state that they regret the incident and immediately made contact with the victim and her parents.
