Almost five years after his last official football match, Edwin van der Sar is taking up his goalkeeper gloves once more. The former Oranje player agreed to play for his old amateur club VV Noordwijk, broadcaster NOS reports.
Noordwijk lost their first choice of goalkeeper to an injury and have been desperately searching for a replacement. Over the past few days they club successfully convinced Van der Sar to help out. He will be playing in the match against Joradan Boys on Saturday.
In the past Van der Sar played for Noordwijk's A1, from where he was picked up by Ajax. The 45 year old goalkeeper is now marketing director at the Amsterdam team. His last official match was on June 28th, 2011.
