Over 27,000 students ready for NS rush hour protest
Some 27 thousand students are ready to descent on NS trains during morning rush hour on Tuesday, according to the Facebook page for the protest. This is in protest against NS' plan to have students travel outside rush hours by changing their class schedules. In this way NS hopes to relieve some pressure on overcrowded trains.
Many students are very much set against this plan, as it will make having a job or social life in addition to their studies even more difficult. They are also annoyed that NS did not discuss the idea with them first. An online petition against this measure already has almost 40 thousand signatures.
According to a NS spokesperson, all available and necessary equipment will be deployed on Tuesday, as on all other days. "We will do our very best to transport all students to their college on time", the spokesperson said to the Telegraaf.
