Taxi driver leaps from moving vehicle during carjacking

An Amsterdam taxi driver managed to leap from his moving vehicle after three men hijacked him during the early hours of Friday, February 19th. The police are looking for witnesses.

The taxi driver was driving over Burgemeester van Leeuwenlaan when he saw three men waving at him. Thinking they were clients, he stopped and picked them up.

Once in the car though, the three men attacked him, punching him in the head and across his body. They demanded valuable items and one of them took over control of the steering wheel. When the taxi slowed down somewhat, the driver saw his chance and leaped out of the moving vehicle.

The perpetrators continued on in the taxi, which was later found on Schoonboomstraat.

The police are looking for three perpetrators. The first is about 25 years old, between 1.75 and 1.8 meters tall with a strong build, but not fat. He has long, black hear combed back with gel. He was wearing a black parka jacket and dark-colored jeans.

The second perpetrator is between the ages of 20 and 23 years old, about 1.85 meters tall, with a strong stature. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and black sweatpants.

Perpetrator number three is about 23 years old and approximately 1.75 meters tall. He wore a black parka jacket from Canada Goose with a fur collar.

The police are looking to talk to anyone who saw these three men on Thursday night, February 18th or Friday Morning, February 19th, or anyone who recognize them by their description.
