Green party wants Amsterdam street poles to separate cars, sidewalks
Green party GroenLinks wants to use street poles in Amsterdam to prevent cars parking on sidewalks, RTV Noord Holland reports.
Due to the ever increasing crowds in the Dutch capital, cars parked on sidewalks is becoming an big problem. The intent is that enforcers should stop cars parking where they should not, but according to the party, this is not working.
"The sidewalks are increasingly packed with buses, cars and other motorized traffic that does not belong there", GroenLinks council member Zeeger Ernsting said. "This makes the use of the sidewalk almost impossible for people in a wheelchair, with a walker, with a pram, the people, in short, that need protection."
