Slick road warnings issued for morning rush hour
A code yellow warning for slick, snow covered roads was issued for parts of Noord-Holland, Drenthe, Friesland, Flevoland, Overijssel and Limburg. The KNMI warns motorists to adjust their driving behavior accordingly and to keep an eye on weather reports and warnings.
The warning expired at 8:00 a.m. in Noord-Holland, but remains in place for Friesland, Drenthe, Overijssel and Flevoland until 10:00 a.m. In Limburg the warning will be in place until 1:00 p.m. The roads may still be slick in spots even after the warning expires. Morning temperatures in the northern and eastern parts of the country are close to freezing, which means icy spots may be around for a while.
There is also a code yellow warning for strong winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour in Zeeland until 10:00 a.m.
The KNMI expects Friday to be cloudy with a chance of showers and wet snow. The hills in Limburg may even get snow cover of several centimeters. Afternoon temperatures will range from 2 degrees in the east to 5 degrees in the coastal areas.
