Schiphol breaks travel records with 58 million passengers

This year a record number of 58 million passengers traveled through Schiphol Airport, CEO Jos Nijhuis announced in an interview with magazine Zakenreis. The airport has been growing rapidly for several years. In 2009 the number of passengers stood at 43.5 million euros, last year there were 55 million. To cope with this growth, Schiphol is expanding with a new pier in 2019. This pier can handle approximately 5 million people a year. A new terminal is also being prepared, which is set to be ready for operation in 2023. The capacity of this terminal is around 14 million people.
