Woman injured in asylum protest angered by Justice Sec’s gesture

Hilda van der Heide, the woman who broke her arm when a police officer pulled her away from Justice State Secretary Klaas Dijkhoff's car during a protest against asylum seekers in the Drenthe town of Oranje, is annoyed by the response she got from the State Secretary. On Saturday, about two months after the incident, she received a box from the Ministry of Security and Justice, the woman told RTL Nieuws. In it was, among other things, a Christmas bread and a card. But no apologies for what happened, she said to the broadcaster. "There was a word for getting well. Mr Dijkhoff wished me a merry Christmas with family and kids and writes that his visit to Oranje clearly did not work out has he expected." Van der Heide underwent three surgeries after her fall and will hear in January whether she needs another one. She pressed charges against the police officer who pulled her away from the car.
