Four-year-old's bakery adventure becomes internet sensation

Four year old Daan's first independent trip to the local bakery in Raamsdonksveer, Brabant, took social media by storm. The Van Der Westen bakery posted a photo of the note his mother sent with him on their Facebook page. The post received more than 22 thousand likes and was shared almost 1,000 times. "Hi. I wanted to go to the bakery alone. Daddy followed me, but I don't know this. So 1 whole-grain bread. Greetings", the letter reads. Bakery owner Manon van der Westen got quite a fright when she saw the little boy come into the bakery on his own, she told newspaper AD. The boy insisted to get the bread on his own and gave her the note. "Of course I had to laugh about the note, but I played along. He neatly handed me the pennies and proudly walked out the door." she said. Daan's father Pascal followed the little adventurer at a distance and kept a close eye on him. "it was the first time he went shopping on his own", Pascal said to the newspaper. "He was so enthusiastic and proud of himself."
