Neighbors: Resident in blown-up apartment threatened arson
The resident of the Rotterdam apartment that blew up on Thursday morning, threatened to set the place on fire, his neighbors told newspaper AD. No one was present in the apartment when the explosion happened and there were no injuries. "He said he would set the place on fire if he was put out of his home. Well that has happened now. He and his belongings were taken away in a van last night", one neighbor said to the newspaper. The neighbors are sure that this was no accident. According to the local residents, the occupant was a single man who previously had problems with the landlord and neighbors. "Loud music in the middle of the night. And if you then pounded on the door to ask that he turn it down, it was simply not opened", his downstairs neighbor said. The cause of the explosion and subsequent fire is still under investigation. The two apartments above and below the apartment in question sustained serious water and soot damage.
