Counterterrorism boss: No reason to panic in Netherlands

There is no reason to panic in the Netherlands after the terrorist attacks in Paris. The terrorism threat level remains the same and no link was found between those behind the terrorist attacks and jihadists in the Netherlands. This is according to Dick Schoof, the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security, in an interview with broadcaster NOS. Schoof thinks that, given the circumstances, it is necessary and logical to take extra measures. And this has been done. They are in contact with events about tighter security, they are keeping an extra close eye on "people we have concerns about" and they are taking another good look at security measures that are already in place. Schoof can understand why people are worried, but believes that the sense of anxiety will wear off over time. He urges people to keep going to concerts and football matches. "Of course people should do that. We cannot guarantee safety. But we can take measures and together make sure that we do not panic."
