“Fitbit for Cows”: Amsterdam team wins Web Summit startup contest
Amsterdam based startup company Connecterra has won the Web Summit 2015 startup ccompetition PITCH with their so-called "Fitbit for cows", Startup Juncture announced on Friday.
The product is actually named Dairy Activity Monitor. It can analyze real-time data of cattle. This includes movement, location and animal health. Data is sent to users via a device agnostic cloud-based platform.
According to Startup Juncture, this product can enable users to improve farm productivity as it frees up labor time, optimize breeding cycles and improve the production per animal. It enables farmers to track and trace the movement of cows on an individual level, which can give organic farms insights on the free grazing time per animal.
The Dairy Activity Monitor is currently being tested at a farm in Friesland. Connecterra hopes that their new title will help the team more easily land the 2.1 million euros they are currently aiming to raise.
