Eindhoven airport to close for two weeks on runway repair
Eindhoven airport will be closed down between May 30th and June 15th next year for the renovation of the airport's runway. This means that no civil or military aircraft will be able to takeoff or land at the airport during those two weeks, Eindhoven Dagblad reports.
The asphalt of a runway has to be redone every 10 to 12 years. The last time Eindhoven Airport's runway was repaired was in May and June 2004.
The airport closing for two weeks will be a financial setback for the airlines who frequently use it, such as Transavia and Ryanair. A spokesperson for Transavia told the newspaper that they "completely understand" that the renovation is necessary and that they are working with the airport to make the inconvenience, particularly to the passengers, as small as possible.
