Educator: Gov’t does not take mandatory integration exam seriously
Experts have analyzed data collected from Education Executive Agency (DUO), and have come to the conclusion that thousands of immigrants will not achieve their integration exam before the deadline of January 1, 2016, BNR reports. New Civic law that was passed in January 2013 states that 10,000 immigrants through the integration exam.
Of that 10 thousand goal, 8,000 still need to be tested. One of the exam trainers, Sandra Bons told BNR that the loss of financial support is one of the reasons for non-application. Immigrants are having to pay for the exam themselves, with the quality of the courses often falling short.
VVD MP Sjoerd Potters voiced his opinion calling for Social Affairs minister Lodewijk Asscher to take action. Potters said that if they agreed to take a large group into integration, then we must simply make it happen, reported the broadcaster.
A DUO Spokesperson has pointed out that many of the participants for the exam will need more time.
