Nationalist slogans spray-painted on another asylum center
Anti-refugee slogans have been spray-painted onto the wall of a gymnasium in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. The gymnasium is currently accommodating 25 refugees.
The slogans include phrases like: "Own people first. Just let them die." A "white-power" symbol has also been spray-painted on the wall.
Mayor Jan Heijkoop told RTV Rijnmond that he is shocked. "It's terrible what's happening here. I don't get it. We also have a group of Syrians here. There was never a hassle about them", he said to the broadcaster. The gymnasium has now been surrounded by fences.
Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht councilman Erik Hartingsveldt posted a photo of the graffiti on Twitter on Tuesday. "It's great that everyone has an opinion, but I find these texts in this way shocking", he said to the broadcaster. "You should never wish for someone's death. I understand the unrest, also in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, but I distance myself from this form of protest."
