Police: Fatal motorcycle crash caused by teen tractor driver
A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody and detained for formal questioning after a 48-year-old motorcyclist died when he crashed into the boy's tractor. The head-on collision happened in Haaren, Noord Brabant, at the three-way intersection of Driehoekweg, Belversestraat and Eind towards the end of Thursday morning, police said in a statement.
Investigators suspect that the young tractor-trailer driver, from Liempde, simply did not see the motorcyclist when making a turn at the intersection. After the turn, the accident was unavoidable, killing the motorcyclist from Schijndel instantly.
The teen was brought in for questioning, a standard practice in a case like this, police said. He will be provided with counselling service if requested, as will the families and friends of those involved.
Police traffic experts are still analyzing details of the crash, and have not yet determined the exact circumstances.
