Nijmegen readies refugee tent camp for 3,000 people
The central agency for the reception of asylum seekers, the COA, plans to put down a tent camp that can accommodate 3 thousand refugees on Heumensoord, in Nijmegen - the spot where the four-day marches camp is usually located.
The COA filed a request for this at the municipalities of Nijmegen and Heumen on Wednesday, the Gelderlander reports. Nijmegen, who will be managing the emergency shelter, will reveal plans for it at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Every year during the four day marches Heumensoord accommodates some 6 thousand soldiers. The emergency refugee shelter will be taken down before the 2016 marches begin.
