Netherlands expects 10,000 refugees by end of year
The central agency for the reception of asylum seekers in the Netherlands, the COA, will need 10 thousand extra shelter spaces before the end of this year, in order to be able to deal with the ever increasing number of refugees fleeing to the country. Janet Helder of the COA said this on Tuesday during a meeting to explain Hilversum and the surrounding municipalities' plans to help the asylum seekers, Reformatoisch Dagblad reports. The European Commission will announce its plans for the redistribution of refugees across the European Union countries on Wednesday. The proposal stated that the Netherlands will have to take in an additional 7,214 refugees.
