Boy killed in Leiden train accident

A 17 year old boy from Voorschoten was killed after being hit by a train in Leiden on Monday night. According to the police, the boy tried to pick something up from the tracks as the train approached the station. He was unable to get off the tracks in time. The accident happened just after 10:00 p.m. on the De Vink station on Alexandrine Tinneplein. The victim was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition, where he passed a way a short time later from his injuries. The accident brought train traffic between Leiden Central and Den Haag Mariahove station to a standstill for some time, according to news wire ANP. NS announced that the disruption was over around 0:30 a.m.
