Schiphol welcome desk opens for Amsterdam’s new international students
International students arriving in Amsterdam for the start of the new semester, will be welcomed by a special help desk the University of Amsterdam has set up at Schiphol airport, the university announced.
According to the UvA, the university and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences will be welcoming about 1,000 students from more than 100 different countries. These students will be received at the desk immediately after landing.
They will then be taken by bus to the Amsterdam Science Park. There the UvA and AUAS have set up a location where the new students can sort out what they need to live in Amsterdam, like opening a bank account, receiving the keys to their accommodations and registering with the municipality. This was done in cooperation with the municipality of Amsterdam, housing corporations, banks and other involved parties.
"Previous years have shown that new international students appreciate this personal service because of the difficulty of locating the relevant authorities in a new city." according to the UvA. "This process now only takes these new residents of Amsterdam a few hours to complete."
