Prosecutor: BUK missile parts found near MH17 crash site
As part of the MH17 criminal investigation the Dutch Safety Board and the Joint Investigation Team are investigating a number of parts that may have come from a BUK surface-to-air missile system, the Public Prosecutor announced on Tuesday.
According to the Prosecutor, these parts were secured during a previous salvage mission in Eastern Ukraine.
"The parts are particularly important for the criminal investigation: they can possibly give more information about who was involved in the MH17 crash", the Public Prosecutor writes. The JIT have enlisted help from international experts, including forensic scientists and weapons experts, to help determine the origin of these parts.
According to the Public Prosecutor, at this point it can not be concluded that these parts are connected to the MH17 disaster.
