No known injuries in senior center fire
A large fire broke out in a seniors apartment complex on Merelhof in Bussum early on Tuesday morning. All residents of the 19 apartments in the building had to be evacuated. No one was injured, according to the police.
The fire broke out around 2:00 a.m. in one of the apartments. The fire brigade has managed to get the fire under control, but are still working on extinguishing it, NU reports.
The municipality provided shelter to the evacuated residents. For the time being they will not be allowed to return to their apartments.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. The police could not yet comment on the extent of the damage.
