Woman killed in hospital shooting
At least one person was killed Monday afternoon when shots rang out in the parking lot of the Tweesteden Hospital in Waalwijk, Noord-Brabant. The offender was still on the loose as of 6:30 p.m. that evening.
The murdered woman was sitting in her car in the employees' parking area when the gunman walked up and opened fire. It is not known if the victim worked at the hospital, as that portion of the parking lot is easily accessible to the public.
The incident was called into authorities by 5:10 p.m. First responders and a trauma doctor, flown in by helicopter, tried to revive the woman to no avail, newswire ANP reported.
A weapon was not yet recovered, broadcaster NOS stated. Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect and all witnesses to the crime to contact investigators.
Police forensic investigators sealed off the crime scene, and were also spotted in the neighborhood collecting trace evidence. A police helicopter was also dispatched to the scene.
